Description
Light has always been a theme of exploration in the philosophy of great thinkers and artists. Louis Kahn said, “We are born of light, The seasons are feeling through light. We only know the world as it is evoked by light.” She argued that everything that exists in nature, mountains, rivers, trees, rocks, borrows a space from light, and its shadow belongs to it. Likewise, matter belongs to light, and as creators of spaces we must constantly explore its possibilities, not only as a source of enlightenment, but as if it were a living, ever-changing being that can manifest itself poetically through our works.
In this volume of Landuum, winter 2017 edition, I want to explore with you some fascinating possibilities of light in the landscape. We will travel back in time to remember how the Maya understood sunlight, and return to the present to learn contemporary proposals that explore light and technology to create dynamic landscapes.
Speaking of light and energy, landuum is committed to the environment and we are in a permanent quest to reduce our energy and environmental impact, so from the next edition, we will migrate to digital format. Interesting changes are coming from this decision and we want to invite you to be part of this change, so stay close. See you in 2018!
