Casa Espejo Verde

Casa Espejo Verde is a great reference for inspiration of biophysical design, a sample of the perfect combination of architecture and nature. This project was designed and created in a very organic way with an ideal plant palette, as if the landscape environment had been present since the construction of the house. The axis of Casa Espejo Verde is located at the main entrance.

In order to create a pleasant space with natural light, a containment wall was redesigned with an impressive vertical garden over six meters high with succulents such as: Drosanthemum floribundum, Sedum morganianum, Sempervivum, among others; volcanic stones were placed in the same area and for this purpose a precise selection of stones was made.

This vertical garden that connects the exterior with the interior of the house generates an astonishing and hallucinating biophysical effect, since it appears as an iconic and distinctive element flowing into a water mirror that serves as a sustainable irrigation system, circulating through each vertical garden space with a harmonic waterfall.

Another element to be highlighted is that koi fish and turtles were placed in the pond. Also, in the center of the pond an islet was designed to plant a myrtle tree (Myrtus communis), where hummingbirds nest.

With this type of additional fauna, a microclimate with its own ecosystem emerged, as the water remains clean and crystalline. The social area of the house is home for a great Ficus pandurata tree placed into a Parota pot.

The 150-meter terrace with main view to the garden, has stones carefully cut and placed on the surface of the floor to create a stave of natural stone; a timeless element of little maintenance.

In the same space, a perimeter jardiniere was incorporated with a unique design and organic movements produced by exotic plants of capricious forms and unusual textures such as the Dioscorea mexicana, Echeverias verdes, Delosperma cooperi and Echinopsis eyriesii, which in its composition, give rise to a great sensory surprise.

In order to combine the nature of the terrace with a social space, besides planting myrtle trees that are more than four meters high, elements such as a fireplace, a lounge and a kitchen were placed to maintain a combination of functionality.

The gardens of Casa Espejo Verde also provide experiences in green with Jaboticaba and Myrtle trees; Hinoki Japanese pine; colocasia black magic, as well as dwarf papyrus.

The conception of the architectural landscape starts from conceiving an authentic sensory explosion in the environment of each of its gardens, so that in its great whole, they give birth to a range of unique and incomparable experiences.

The environments were designed so that the very context of the space is amalgamated with the lines, squares and vanishing points of the architectural layout of the house and thus a perfect conjunction is lived, felt and generated, in which plants are used as a means of expressing emotions.
