Residential complex “PEDRE”
Join us to explore the residential complex “PEDRE” by Devas Paisaje, where they present a project where vegetation intertwines with the building, making the green areas the soul of the place.
Located in the Southern part of Mexico City, the project is nestled in the Pedregal de San Ángel, Jardines del Pedregal, and Ciudad Universitaria, from which much of the inspiration for its realization is drawn.
PEDRE is a landscape project focused on highlighting outdoor spaces from all visual angles, designed to completely envelop the architectural ensemble. It focuses on providing color and texture in contrast with architectural materials like concrete and wood. An essential point to consider was maximizing the amount of green and thus permeable area, without sacrificing livable space, which allows us to live outdoors. Imagining a garden is embracing a new consciousness.

The project was designed hand in hand with the architects responsible for the ensemble from the very beginning, allowing us to highlight the environments rather than being relegated to residual spaces. Feedback was also conducted in collaboration with the furniture designers, achieving a perfect fusion that complements the livability of all outdoor spaces, both private and social.
The inspiration comes directly from the Pedregal de San Ángel Reserve, which offers exceptional spaces such as the ecological reserve. This was the source of inspiration for the various plant groupings, with an emphasis on attracting wildlife. Of the 60 different species in the project, 18 were pollinator plants, and 8 were different types of fruit trees. Through teamwork, 14 trees from the site were salvaged, safeguarded, and then reintegrated into the project. The main aesthetic values are reflected in the seasonality and the massive blooms achieved through a proper plant selection. The flowers of this garden make you feel like part of it.

The project consists of various common areas on the ground floor, such as a multipurpose room, swimming lane, and the Sky Park, which fully covers the rooftop of the complex. The design of the planters wraps around the project and is based on the building’s forms, creating small spaces that offer privacy while still keeping you connected to everything happening around the area.
The project is not limited to the private environment, it directly impacts the city by extending outward through the intervention of the immediate urban space with the rehabilitation of the adjacent median park.
PEDRE is a refuge where green spaces become indispensable, as the world, since the pandemic, has opened its eyes and recognized that these places are crucial for our well-being.
