Jose is a man who constantly wanders in the desert landscape of Real de Catorce in San Luis Potosi, at the end of his ceremonies each pilgrim, or starwalker (as they call themselves) embarks on a different journey in which they pray for the water of the world leaving offerings that they carry in a palm box called tacuatsin. This ritual took place in the Mayan jungle, south of Cuxtal\u2019s Nature Reserve. The candles offered to the cenote 1 were a gift from Mar\u00eda Sabina’s grandson in the Sierra de Oaxaca.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1. A cenote is a natural sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath.
