Located within Rosendo Arnaiz Park in the Benito Ju\u00e1rez borough, the Pilares Valent\u00edn G\u00f3mez Far\u00edas project was created as part of an initiative and public policy by the Mexico City government to develop facilities that strengthen social and community ties. This project is part of a broader effort to rebuild the neighborhood through architecture that is committed to the community.<\/p>\n

The architectural project is focused on the recovery of underutilized fronton courts within the park. Our design transforms this space into an environment that promotes interaction and learning within a context of accessibility and openness. The project aims to revitalize these areas using low-impact architecture that respects and reinterprets the remnants of the park’s former fronton courts.<\/p>\n

This intervention seeks to recover and enhance the social fabric of the area, creating a space that not only serves as a meeting point but also stimulates community and educational activities by seamlessly integrating the public space with the landscape.<\/p>\n

The design of the Pilares is conceived as a complement to the existing landscape, prioritizing integration with the park’s natural surroundings. The project proposes a redesign that enhances the functionality of the open space, promoting a continuous connection between users and their environment.<\/p>\n

Our project aims to extend the indoor educational spaces into a multifunctional outdoor plaza, promoting a seamless integration between educational areas and the natural environment. The central concept is the creation of a new landscape, a civic horizon, materialized through a landscape intervention centered on a circular garden-forum. This space serves as a meeting point for educational, cultural, recreational, and playful activities, enriching the user experience by offering a versatile location for diverse events. To achieve these objectives, key elements have been incorporated, such as a garden for pollinator species, a native prairie within the garden-forum, and an educational milpa, which not only enhance the landscape but also encourage learning and community interaction.<\/p>\n

Although the space is enclosed by lattice walls, the abundant vegetation creates an atmosphere of safety and openness, transforming the area into a\u201dpark within a park.\u201d This landscaping strategy not only enhances the functionality of the space but also strengthens the connection between the natural environment and community activities, positioning the project as a central element in the park’s revitalization.<\/p>\n
