Discover the Spa Hacienda Xcanat\u00fan, a relaxation space immersed in nature that uses and enhances materials from the southern region of Mexico, designed by Taller Mexicano de Arquitectura.<\/p>\n

The project, “Spa Hacienda Xcanat\u00fan by Angsana Heritage Collection,” designed by Taller Mexicano de Arquitectura, is situated on the outskirts of M\u00e9rida in Yucat\u00e1n, Mexico. As part of the Master Plan for Hacienda Xcanat\u00fan, this assignment involved designing a spa facility that integrates seamlessly into the hotel’s catalog of complementary amenities and the adjacent real estate project. This hospitality project is dedicated to creating a serene and luxurious environment focused on relaxation and wellness.<\/p>\n

Located in the heart of Hacienda Xcanat\u00fan, adjacent to the main pond, the design goal was to craft a building that respectfully interacts with both the hacienda’s physical and natural surroundings. We proposed a linear pavilion set on a horizontal foundation to ensure a human scale and provide privacy for the spa\u2019s functions relative to the broader hacienda.<\/p>\n

The pavilion\u2019s design centers around four key elements. The metal structure defines and organizes the building, while stone and chukum volumes house the various spa facilities. A flat cantilevered slab offers protection from rain and sun, creating a horizontal plane that guides movement between the modules and central patios. Additionally, a blind cylindrical module introduces a distinctive geometric element that encourages exploration of the interior.<\/p>\n

The design carefully considers routes and visual experiences, ensuring that each space\u2014whether a volume, terrace, or circulation area\u2014provides views of different gardens and estate areas. Privacy is maintained through strategic use of endemic vegetation and stone walls.<\/p>\n

Covering a total area of 530 sqm, the pavilion is thoughtfully organized into distinct modules and circulation spaces. The choice of materials reflects a commitment to low maintenance and harmonious integration with the hacienda\u2019s diverse architectural styles. The materials selected include structural steel, regional stone, marble flooring, flattened chukum, and local woods such as cedar and tzalam wood, complemented by various aluminum and glass elements.<\/p>\n
