Traverses with Iv\u00e1n Ju\u00e1rez an <\/span><\/i>Aromatic garden and pollinator space<\/i><\/b> in Italy, that arises from the recovery of an unused patio-terrace.<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/p>\n

Conceived as a <\/span>tribute to the Mediterranean landscape<\/b>, the architect and landscaper Iv\u00e1n Ju\u00e1rez from x-studio has created a site-specific <\/span>intervention of urban acupuncture<\/b> in a public space of Farm Cultural Park, a cultural complex located in the -Sette Cortili- neighborhood in the town of Favara, Sicily.<\/span><\/p>\n

Farm Cultural Park is a community model that in recent years has <\/span>positively transformed the urban and social<\/b> tissue through a series of artistic and educational strategies. <\/span><\/p>\n

The neighborhood has been revitalized through the restoration of its architectural spaces and common areas, integrating artistic and cultural projects that generate a weave where the <\/span>inhabitants coexist among terraces, patios, squares and gardens<\/b>, along with public art works, murals, <\/span>exhibition and educational spaces <\/b>such as the School of Architecture for children (SOU).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe neighborhood has been revitalized through the restoration of its architectural spaces and common areas.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The project establishes a dialog with the context where the <\/span>natural and cultural landscape<\/b> of Sicily as well as the historic context of Favara, have provided the reference framework for developing the proposal. This intervention pays tribute to the Mediterranean landscape <\/span>through an olfactory and pollinator garden where various fragrances <\/b>of aromatic species are activated.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe intervention pays tribute to the Mediterranean landscape through an olfactory and pollinator garden where various fragrances of aromatic species are activated.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The proposal arises from the <\/span>recovery of an unused patio-terrace, transforming it into an olfactory space<\/b> where various fragrances of Mediterranean aromatic plants blend: lavender, thyme, rosemary, sage, mint, among others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Natural fragrances that <\/span>attract various species of bees, butterflies, and other insects<\/b>, generating new forms of <\/span>coexistence <\/b>with the natural environment, while activating sensory experience and olfactory memory.<\/span><\/p>\n

An approach to the local context is proposed through a living-space that offers diverse experiences and <\/span>creates connections between the community and its own landscape<\/b>. It serves as a place for contemplation and exploration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Similarly, the project is articulated by a system of lines (reclaimed wood), which functions as a guiding thread that interweaves the space throughout its journey. The system creates diverse layers, heights, and settings, <\/span>generating a sequence of micro-landscapes<\/b> that, as they are traversed, <\/span>reveal various textures, ranges, sounds, and aromas<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
