{"id":23593,"date":"2023-10-23T11:34:35","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T17:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.landuum.com\/?p=23593"},"modified":"2023-10-23T11:34:35","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T17:34:35","slug":"water-garden-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.landuum.com\/en\/interventions\/water-garden-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Water garden house"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We present \u201c<em><strong>Water garden house<\/strong><\/em>\u201d by Wallflower Architecture + Design, a 30 year old property in Singapore, which was transformed into an oasis of tranquility in a bustling urban neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A property owned for 30 years, <strong>the tired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landuum.com\/en\/category\/interventions\/\">old house<\/a> had to make way for a new one that maximized the allowable built envelope<\/strong>, while addressing new needs and desires. Among them was a <strong>desire to have a waterfall feature in the design, and a need for privacy<\/strong> from the many neighbors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The site is perfectly circular<\/strong> when seen from above and it is a unique space in Singapore. A platform on which the living areas and the pool could now be placed. <strong>The intention was for this to be visually hovering, giving the smooth travertine block a sense of lightness.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The resulting primary spaces are open and transparent<\/strong> and blessed with views of water that overlook <a href=\"https:\/\/sgluxuryhomes.com.sg\/property\/the-ladyhill\/\">Lady Hill\u2019s<\/a> hidden valley. Operable teakwood screens clad the entire fa\u00e7ade of the house, and allow the control of privacy and the micro environment within rooms. <strong>A filter of hanging plants provides an added layer of privacy<\/strong> and softens the facade around the swimming pool.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23572\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" the lower levels, bringing an openness to these otherwise confined spaces. <strong>A sense of movement connects all the spaces<\/strong> through the architectural form of <strong>curvatures and sloping facades<\/strong>, the movement of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landuum.com\/en\/interventions\/hacienda-tamchen-the-importance-of-water-in-design\/\">water<\/a>, and the lie of the land.<\/p>\n<p>They are balanced by the stable large expanses of platforms where the living spaces are. <strong>Nestled amongst mature trees, the home enjoys privacy that is unusual in this tight urban site<\/strong>, close to the bustle just beyond this highly sought-after neighborhood.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cA filter of hanging plants provides an added layer of privacy and softens the
