HABITAT<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is distributed in the northern states, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Le\u00f3n, San Luis Potos\u00ed, Zacatecas and Tamaulipas. It grows wild in highland desert regions on limestone terrain, on rocky hills, and on steep river banks, especially along the Rio Grande basin.<\/p>\n

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

The great ethnobotanical relevance of this plant is due to its high content of alkaloids, among which the psychoactive substance known as mescaline stands out, the latter with antiseptic properties.<\/p>\n
