We wanted to disconnect ourselves from the city and spend the day immersed in an authentic Mayan landscape. We started the trip and from the road we began to see how the vegetation of the landscape changed, as well as the typology of the houses and the streets.<\/p>\n

Suddenly we entered a red dirt road flanked by golden trunks that led to a place frozen through time: “Hacienda Xocnaceh”. We had arrived.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Immediately, the song of the birds received us and peace and tranquility flooded the space.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We were invited to tour the Hacienda before sitting down to eat. The more we entered the route, the more we were becoming aware of the site, with the colors of the vegetation, with the smell of the land, with the song of the birds and with the presence of the animals that live there.<\/p>\n

Suddenly we found a Mayan house. Upon entering, the temperature difference inside was amazing.<\/p>\n

How refreshing! The roof made of huano palm and the thick walls made of clay and bajareque generated a thermal envelope that isolated us from the high external temperatures.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When leaving the house, to our surprise we came across a Mayan pyramid, only a few meters away. We had to climb it!<\/p>\n

The view from the top allowed us to see the horizon line that separates the rainforest’s green from the sky’s blue. Few places in Yucatan have this beautiful view.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

All this walking increased our appetite, so we decided to take the road towards the place of the banquet. We arrived at an abandoned church with beautiful frescoes on its walls.<\/p>\n

The drawings in pastel colors and the interior vegetation gave a warm atmosphere to what were ruins once. There, inside this beautiful enclosure, an impeccable table awaited us.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The dishes were delicious! Authentic Yucatecan food with a special flavor. The tortillas were prepared at the moment by talented Mayan hands.<\/p>\n

After lunch we went to the pool of the hacienda. The experience of swimming in an old water tank overlooking the ruins of the hacienda was unmatched.<\/p>\n

We were not the only ones in the pool! A couple of encounters with a friendly frog made us the day!<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Without a doubt, having visited Hacienda Xocnaceh for lunch was more than a luxury for the palate: it was a luxury for all our senses, a moment of connection with nature, with the landscape, and with history.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
